The team at Mountbakery carefully selects ingredients and maintains a dedication to supporting small, local farms whenever possible.
Above all else, there is a curiosity and passion that drives the team at Mountbakery to explore comfort foods of all kinds, take advantage of the local and create a pleasant dining experience.
Mountbakery offers a delightful selection of pastries, cookies and dessert ideal for sharing or individual dining.
We are not trying to replicate dishes that are time-honored, but rather to create an experience that nurtures the soul, inspires and delights and tantalizes the palate with superb food and drink.

OUR STORY

A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON THE BUSINESS

The Mount Bakery was founded in or around the year 2000 by Olivier Vrambout a young Belgian
American chef and baker who had learned his craft at the knee of his Belgian grandmother. Olivier, “Oliver”,
Oli took an incredible finesse with food, combined it with the energy level of Jack Russell Terrier on espresso,
mixed in a special charm that made him easy to laugh with and determination to do everything his own way and
pretty much set a new bar for high-quality food and baked pastries in Bellingham. Simultaneously he provided
the start point for a renaissance in the neighborhood around Mount Bakery’s downtown cafe.

In 2007 Olivier was ready for new adventures in far away Minnesota.  I was working with Oli and managing the Mount Bakery while making my first steps forward in my own new adventure as a first time father, stepdad, and husband.  I remember the day that Oli told me that he was going to be moving and that he wanted to sell the business to me.  The adventure just got that much bigger!  My wife and I purchased the business in December 2007,  We committed ourselves to maintaining the high quality food, coffee, pastries, and desserts that had established our place as an increasingly beloved Bellingham destination under Olivier, and we’ve never looked back.   The past ten years has seen our business volume triple and allowed us to open a second cafe in Fairhaven.  None of this would have been possible without the amazing talents, hard work, and positive camaraderie brought to our little endeavor by all of the incredible people who have joined the Mount Bakery staff over the years.  To all of those bakers, cooks, servers, dishwashers, and managers my family and I will owe an unending debt of gratitude just as I do to Oli and his family for the gift they gave us when they gave us the opportunity to take the reins of the business.

Our deepest thanks go out to this beautiful community and all of the wonderful people who we have had the pleasure to serve.  Whether you are a hardcore, local, “regular” of the Mount Bakery or traveler who has heard about us on social media or walked in by chance, we know you are the reason we are here and we look forward to sharing our talents and time with you.  – Vince

made from real ingredients served with pride to what has been an ever growing and loyal group of patrons.
